Diverse voices for health research

Find out more about BRAG and how you can get their input on your research

BRAG is a group of community leaders from a range of BAME communities across Greater Manchester who provide expertise to health researchers.

The group:

  • gives researchers advice from BAME perspectives;
  • provides context and suggestions to ensure that health research is meaningful to people from BAME communities;
  • champions health research in communities.

BRAG grew out of a partnership between Vocal and Greater Manchester BME Network Community Sandpit.

BRAG meets regularly to consult on research projects and have developed Top Tips for researchers. The group has also worked with the Vocal team to co-produce training sessions about inclusive research.

Who does BRAG work with?

BRAG supports researchers working within the NIHR Manchester Biomedical Research Centre, the Clinical Research Facility and other partners. The group’s priorities are supporting development of research about cancer, respiratory conditions, dermatology, and musculoskeletal conditions.

The group also has a strong interest in research about mental health and dementia.
