Make a difference to the long term care for people with cancer
By sharing your views you can help to ensure that new research is designed with input from patients.
-
Around 30,000 people each year have radiotherapy to the pelvis. 1 in 6 people will develop bone fractures.
-
Pelvic fractures can be very painful, reduce mobility and affect a person’s quality of life.
-
Take part in an online discussion group on Tuesday 18th July 7-9pm and be paid for your time.
Share your views as a patient or a carer and be paid for your time
Who are we looking for?
People with experience of pelvic radiotherapy either as a patient or carer who are happy to share their views, opinions and to listen to others.
This includes people with different cancer types; cervical, endometrial (womb), prostate, bladder and lower bowel cancers. No experience of a pelvic fracture is necessary.
We’re committed to ensuring that people from a wide range of social and ethnic backgrounds and with different experiences have a say in research. We aim to make our opportunities as inclusive and accessible as possible. If there’s anything that we can do to enable you to take part please let us know.
What will happen at the session?
We’ll talk as a group about:
How we could better raise awareness about the risk of pelvic fractures.
How we could improve identification and management of bone fractures.
What support would be important for patients who experience pelvic fractures?
Payment and expenses
You’ll be paid £50 as a thank you for your time. We’ll also cover reasonable expenses (for example, childcare up to £25) in line with national guidelines. Payment will be by an online bank transfer after the session (please note this can take up to 4 weeks).
An optional £5 remote working allowance is available to cover costs that you may incur by taking part in an online activity, such as joining this session by using mobile data rather than a wifi connection. If you’d like to claim this allowance, please mention this in your email.
How do I take part?
If you’d like to participate in the session, or have any questions, please contact Sally Taylor (Session Coordinator – sally.taylor38@nhs.net) by 10th July.
