We're looking for 5 Public Advisers

Advise on projects that aim to detect liver problems earlier and improve screening for everyone.

How to get involved

Who are we looking for?

We’re looking for people with personal experience of liver disease or who care for someone who does, and for organisations that work with people with liver disease/increased risk.

To be eligible you’ll have personal or carer’s experience of any of the following:

  • Liver disease, for example cirrhosis, liver transplant, liver failure

  • Being advised that you’re overweight by a health professional

  • Type 2 diabetes

  • Drinking more than 14 units of alcohol a week (1 bottle of wine = 10 units, 1 bottle of beer = 3 units approximately)

  • Hepatitis

  • Abnormal liver blood test results or an ultrasound showing fatty liver

Your views and experiences are vital to help patients have better outcomes. You don’t need any previous experience of health research to take part, just be happy to share your views and experiences.

What does the role involve?

  • Sharing your views and experiences to advise the research teams

  • Attending monthly meetings (face to face or online)

  • Reading and giving your feedback on documents

  • The project lasts for 18 months

  • We’ll provide an induction and any training that you need

  • We’ll help you prepare for meetings and discussions
