Get Vocal about cancer treatments
Cancer affects everyone and it’s important that people of all ages have a say in improving cancer research.
-
Around 2600 people under 18 are diagnosed with cancer each year in the UK.
-
If you’re between 13-23 years old and have personal experience of cancer, you can help other young people in the future by sharing your views with researchers now.
-
Take part in a 2 hour online discussion and receive £50 as a thank you for taking part.
Online meeting for young people to give their views about new research into rare and childhood cancers
Have a say in future research about new cancer treatments for rare and childhood cancers
What’s involved?
We are looking for teenagers and young adults aged between 13-23 who have experienced cancer, to join an online discussion (2 hours).
The aim of the discussion is to make sure that researchers who are designing a new clinical trial, take into account the views of young people who have experienced cancer.
By sharing your opinions, you can make a real difference to how research is done.
You can take part in the group if you still have cancer or if you have experienced it in the past.
You don’t need to have any previous experience of health research, just to be happy to share your views in a group discussion. The meeting will be relaxed and informal.
There will be about 6-8 young people, a member of the Vocal team and 2 researchers from The Christie and Cancer Research UK.
We will tell you about the new research study that is being planned and ask your opinions about it, so we can make sure that it is relevant for young people.
The discussion is confidential, the names of people who take part will not be shared outside the group. The session will be recorded to make sure we don’t miss anything in the discussion.
Information and quotes from the discussion will be used to help shape the research study. No names or identifiable information from participants will be included.
If you are under 16 years of age, we will need your parent or guardian’s agreement for you to take part.
