A researcher's view

Posted by Annie Keane, Deputy Director, in Listen up, June, 2020

Why we value people's input in our research

Bill, a researcher, explains how valuable it is to have people’s input in research. His research is focusing on how to develop a genetic test to reduce the risk of very young babies becoming deaf as a result of antibiotic treatment. Parents have been part of the research team throughout the project.

As much as I read, as much as I study, I can never put myself in the same position as a mother who's just given birth, who's worried about the health of their baby and having their experience, having their, views of what it was like at that time has made a huge difference to informing our research.

Find out about a range of opportunities for you to be involved in shaping health research.
