Investigating Health Priorities in Gorton

Posted by Hannah Turner-Uaandja, Associate, in Listen up

A partnership project where residents decide what health and wellbeing research is important.

We’re collaborating in Gorton with Healthy Me Healthy Communities and the James Lind Alliance on a project funded by the NIHR Clinical Research Network. By working together with residents, community organisations and healthcare workers, we aim to identify the health and wellbeing challenges and the research questions that are most important to people from the local area.

The aim of the project is to understand what health and wellbeing challenges and questions local residents feel are a priority for researchers to investigate. Traditionally, research teams ask communities for their input on a specific area of health research for example, cancer prevention. We will broaden the conversation to include all areas of health and wellbeing so that the community can define what will be discussed.

By questions we mean the things that members of the community would like to investigate.

If you live and work in Gorton and are interested in taking part, you can help us by answering two questions about your health and wellbeing experiences. You can do that by:

1. Completing this online survey:

2. Attending an in person event at Gorton Central, Highmead Street, Gorton, M18 8PE:

  • Thursday 5th October, 2 - 7pm

  • Friday 6th October, 10 am - 12pm
